Opened with just 77 students on July 1, 1997, The Honors College is the first residential honors college established in the University of North Carolina system. Now over 1,400 undergraduates, representing all majors at WCU, are members of the college. The Honors College is for high-achieving students and is designed to help them get more out of their education through Honors courses, two residence halls, and special academic, leadership, and social programs.
The College also manages programs available to all students: the Humanities, Undergraduate Research, and the Pre-Professional Program.
